A little bit Country… A little bit Rock and Roll

We’re back in Nashville and after a friday travel day of flights, food and fireworks, we’re rollin on the track at the Nashville Superspeedway.  After the lunch break we’ve had a good day of practice with most of the teams getting the car shaken down among the madness of the Import Alliance show happening in the infield.

We’ve already seen the Redline record beaten today as Jonathan Bomarito and the team from Sierra Sierra set a fast lap with 1:02:5, which is 1.2 seconds faster than Top Speed’s time from last year at the Superspeedway.  The team from AMS are right behind them with a 1:03.1 1:02.7 and the car is looking strong!

FX Motorsports Development and Billy Johnson had planned to be here, but late word in is that the team is not able to make it.  And once again Ryan Gates is here with his timing transponder off, so we don’t know how quick exactly he is, but he’s looking pretty good from here.   James Elterman had pulled off with some smoke emerging from the car in the first session, and the rescue crews sped to his aid in the pit lane.  Since then, the car has stayed in the garage, and it appears as if the crew is working on it, but no signs as to if they’ll be ready to run by the end of the day.

The World Racing Scion team is here and quiet.  They rolled in this morning, setup and brought out the car from the trailer, but it has yet to turn a lap.  The team from Dent Sport Garage is also here with two cars, and driving their Nissan 24o is Ramana Lagemann.  Ramana is better known for rallying, and crashing his car in practice for the 2007 X Games, only to rebound and claim 4th in that same event just a couple days later.  I had the chance of a lifetime when I got to ride along with Ramana in his Subaru Rally Team USA WRX at the Rim of The World rally back in 2003.

EDIT:  Chris Rado has taken the track, and headed back in.   But there was at least one lap!
