Matt Andrews has encountered a mechanical failure with his Flyin Miata / RobiSpec Mazda Miata today during practice. According to Matt, the oil pump seized as he was pulling off the track from one of the morning practice sessions. The team is feverishly attempting to source another longblock and run tomorrow, but it’ll take a long night and tremendous effort to get the car running!

thats right, the motor spun all of the connecting rods and we we’re forced to remove the motor in the very last minute. we got the motor out of the car before the practice session ended on Saturday afternoon, got the replacement motor and swapped the head (and other parts) out from the old motor to the new motor by Saturday midnight. we got the new motor in by Sunday morning, prepped & tuned it, then did a few laps which netted us a 3rd place finish.
how bad ass is that!?
